The Sanctuary Lakes project is a unique development in Melbourne. Built on the former Cheetham salt works, the project adopted an innovative development model coupled with innovative technical solutions for the land reclamation and servicing works. The project is adjacent to the RAMSAR listed wildlife area.

Verve’s role was to Project and Construction manage the land development works. We were also the Design Consultant for all services utilising various sub consultants. Key areas where we contributed to significant cost and time savings include:

The direct management of over 1 million cubic metres of imported fill to the site. In conjunction with our earthworks contractors significant cost savings were achieved
The direct management of the lake construction and associated retaining walls, bridges and drainage structures. This work needed to be staged carefully while ensuring the highest amenity for new residents
Delivery of the vacuum sewer system to the estate. The site is very flat and ground conditions did not support the use of conventional gravity sewer systems. A high level of co-ordination with City West Water was needed.
